The Dockers came out shortly after lunchtime firing despite the long drive to Dresden. From the get go, the lads in the guts were working well together to feed the ball quickly up front to our key forward Kenny D’Arcy, playing his Dockers debut, who managed to bag 5 goals for the season opener. He was accompanied by the tireless and hard fought efforts of Daniel Snedden, whose booming voice, strong leads and left-right-centre crumbing saw him end up with a lot of the footy. We saw some really solid running out of the back line with the help of another Dockers first-timer, Harry Wyatt, who managed to set up and manage an impregnable wall to ensure the ball stayed in the Dockers forward line.
The team were caught out across the ground standing out of position, maybe due to an intense thirst for the footy after a long and cold off season, they tended to hover around contests and forgetting to make themselves available for the option out the side or up the ground. That didn’t seem to matter too much, as when they switched on, their voices were strong and the shepherds were plentiful. A great start to the 2018 season.
