The Dockers had only 20 minutes to gather their breath after the first game before having to drag themselves back on the field to take on the Munich Kangaroos who, like every year, always mean business. With the great numbers recently at training, the Dockers were fortunate enough to select a strong outfit to bring up against Munich. Flo Naumann in the ruck played a fantastic game, really dominating the centre corridor both defensively and offensively. The acting captain of the day, Basti Loch, put on a magnificent display of selfless efforts in putting on the block and calling his mates into position, which really opened up the game. Matty Oser put on an incredible display in the back line, timing his movements brilliantly and having the ball stick to his hands as if with the help of glue.
It was great to see the positioning across the ground really come together in the second game with players being much more accountable for their opponents’ movements in both attacking and defending. The intensity was high and the level was maintained throughout the two halves with some hard tackles and a courageous bump by Alex Klein, as well as some fast and hard running by Tim and Luca.
